Virgil James is a Los Angeles-based luxury brand, established in 2017 by Jay McGoodwin — an entrepreneur, educator, traveler, and designer whose quest to build the perfect bag became much more.
Virgil James makes limited-edition bags and accessories known for exceptional quality, timeless style, and artistic creativity. Each product is a creative work of art, handcrafted to provide a lifetime of use.
Virgil James currently makes four luxury bag collections comprised of six bag styles for women (clutch, cross body, No. 8, bucket, tote, day bag) and four styles for men (briefcase, satchel, backpack, weekender). Classic color palettes include black, taupe, burgundy, and natural tan.
The limited-edition Reykjavik, Santa Fe, and Buenos Aires Collections are developed with timeless, elegant shapes to showcase uncompromising attention to detail and artisanal expressions of style. The handcrafted hardware is designed to evoke the beauty and inspiration of each collection’s namesake.
The Originals Collection features our iconic No. 8 bag with its ingenious removable panel, made with one-of-a-kind original art ("Originals Art Collection") or classic materials, including felt, leather, faux-exotics, and hand-printed fabrics ("Originals Classic Collection"). Each bag in this collection is a singular style statement.
